FACHPACK 2024: “transition in packaging,” the future of sustainable packaging

FACHPACK 2024 is a benchmark trade fair for the packaging industry in Europe. It will be held at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from September 24 to 26 and this year’s edition will highlight the trends shaping the sector, with a particular focus on sustainability and the challenges related to the recent European Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (PPWR).

Sustainability is at the Center of the Debate: Sustainability has become a key topic in the packaging sector, driven by new European regulations and increasing environmental awareness among consumers. The PPWR aims to reduce waste and environmental pollution by encouraging companies to invest in more ecological solutions. However, this regulation has also raised several criticisms, particularly regarding the practical feasibility of recycling and the use of recycled materials, especially in food applications.

FACHPACK 2024 will feature a rich program of conferences and discussions in the PACKBOX, INNOVATIONBOX, and SOLPACK forums. These spaces for dialogue and innovation will be the core of the trade fair, where industry experts will share their experiences and advice on future sustainability challenges.

FACHPACK 2024 will provide the opportunity to closely observe the most advanced technologies and innovative packaging solutions presented by approximately 1,400 exhibitors.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are a crucial component of the packaging industry. FACHPACK 2024 will also give voice to these entities, offering a platform to discuss the difficulties and opportunities related to the transition towards more sustainable business models.

FACHPACK 2024 not only promotes sustainability but also takes concrete measures to make the event itself more ecological. Do you know that visitors are encouraged to travel sustainably by using the Deutsche Bahn (DB) event ticket for rail transport or taking advantage of the electric vehicle charging infrastructure at the exhibition center? Additionally, the trade fair collaborates with partner hotels that offer sustainable accommodations. This all means FACHPACK towards a Sustainable Trade Fair!
